Continuity Plan

During 2021, the implementation of this tool, the Business Continuity Plan (BCP), was designed and launched to increase Alestis Aerospace's protection against risks that could affect business continuity.  The initiative was supported by the company's management as well as by several customers, who perceived an added value that also conveys security.

This tool makes it possible to identify, for a given process or program, the impact of various catastrophic situations such as floods, pandemics, earthquakes, major breakdowns, etc., and to analyze their behavior in order to calculate the expected impact in each case. Applied to the whole, it makes it possible to identify and categorize risks according to their level of impact, which, when compared with the level of inventory in each process, makes it possible to assess the downtime that would occur in each case and, from there, to implement actions focused on the weaknesses identified in the face of clearly defined risk situations.

The BCP tool is being developed at three levels: operational (Tecnobahía, Puerto Real, Seville and Vitoria-Gasteiz facilities), systems (IT) and supply chain.

This tool makes it possible to identify the impact of various catastrophic situations and to analyze their behavior in order to calculate the expected impact in each case.

Its progressive implementation has generated multiple actions aimed at minimizing the level of impact. Specifically, the following:

  • Tecnobahía
    • To improve fire protection (detection, protection, collaboration agreements, etc.) in the plant and especially in specific machinery such as Hot Forming and CNC.
    • Connections protection.
    • Protection of specific machinery software.
    • Updating of operating systems.
    • Machinery protection with risk of severe failure.
  • Puerto Real
    • To improve fire protection for painting and warehouse equipment: water sprinklers and an emergency shut-off valve on the gas supply; offices and shop floor (creation of sandwich panel firebreaks) and transformers and electrical distribution cabinets (CO2 gas protection system).
    • Power supply protection (transformer).
  • Sevilla
    • Video surveillance systems.
    • Air conditioning: acquisition of new backup equipment.
    • Installation of fire extinction system in autoclave control room.
    • Acquisition of new CNC machine.
    • Acquisition of new Ultrasonic machine.
    • Corporate project to homogenize the cyber-attack on factory/Company machines.
  • Vitoria-Gasteiz
    • Acquisition of new sewage treatment plant.
    • Press and Rolling press.
    • Power supply protection (transformer).
    • To improve fire protection for the scrubber area and surface treatment baths, distribution cabins, transformer and furnace.
  • IT
    • Expansion of necessary infrastructure.
    • Engineering systems service coverage.
    • Investment in engineering software.
  • Supply Chain
    • Specified Parts: Development of different alternative suppliers.
    • CFRP Materials and Metallic Raw Material: Extend safety margin, monitoring and customer involvement.
    • Hardware: Develop new contracts with new purchasing/planning parameters. Build a network of "spot" suppliers.
    • Cores: Fire risk audit and upgrade.
    • Carbon Fiber parts: Internalization feasibility analysis.
    • Sheet metal parts: Transfer of Work (ToW) and analysis of alternative suppliers.
    • Tubes: ToW and analysis of alternative suppliers.
  • Tecnobahía

    • Mejorar la protección contra incendios (detección, protección, acuerdos de colaboración, etc.) en la planta y especialmente, en máquinas específicas tales como la Hot Forming y CNC.
    • Protección de acometidas.
    • Protección de programas específicos (software) de máquinas.
    • Actualización de sistemas operativos.
    • Protección de máquinas con riesgo de avería severa.
  • Puerto Real

    • Mejorar la protección contra incendios para equipos de pintura y almacén: instalación de rociadores de agua y una válvula de cierre de emergencia en el suministro de gas; oficinas y shop floor (creación de cortafuegos en paneles sándwich) y transformadores y gabinetes de distribución eléctrica (sistema de protección de gas CO2).

  • Sevilla

    • Sistemas de video vigilancia.
    • Climatización: adquisición nuevos equipos de reserva.
    • Instalación sistema extinción en sala control de autoclaves.
    • Adquisición de nueva máquina CNC.
    • Adquisición de nueva máquina Ultrasonidos.
    • Proyecto corporativo para homogenizar el ciberataque en las máquinas de plantas/Compañía.
  • Vitoria

    • Adquisición de nueva depuradora.
    • Prensa y Rolling press.
    • Protección del suministro eléctrico (transformador).
    • Mejorar la protección contra incendios para zona de depuradora y baños, cabinas de distribución, transformador y horno.
  • IT

    • Ampliación infraestructura necesaria.
    • Cobertura servicio Sistemas de Ingeniería.
    • Inversión en software de ingeniería.
  • Supply Chain (cadena de suministro)

    • Specified Parts: Desarrollo de diferentes proveedores alternativos
    • CFRP Materials y Metallic Raw Material: Ampliar margen de seguridad, monitorización e involucración cliente.
    • Hardware: Desarrollar nuevos contratos con nuevos parámetros de compra/planificación. Construir red de proveedores “spot”.
    • Cores: Auditoría riesgo incendios actualización.
    • Carbon Fiber parts: Análisis viabilidad internalización.
    • Sheet metal parts: Transfer of Work (ToW) y análisis de proveedores alternativos.
    • Tubes: ToW y análisis de proveedores alternativos.

In accordance with the Governance Model, periodic monitoring was performed in 2022, consisting of three meetings throughout the year, attended by the heads of each management unit (Plants, IT and Supply Chain) and the corresponding plant or function manager.

At the operational level, a twice-weekly follow-up meeting was held in each management unit to discuss in detail the adequate progress of each of the defined actions.
