In 2019, Aciturri settled a syndicated loan that the correspondent bank (Banco Santander) labeled sustainable funding.
According to the bank, this was done based on four sustainability indicators, allowing us to measure Aciturri’s commitment to sustainability. The excellent performance against these four initial indicators allowed for a sustainable funding rating in 2019, 2020 and 2021. In December 2021, the indicators were revised by mutual agreement between both parties (Banco Santander and Aciturri), reducing them to three, although more demanding targets are set for 2022. Since then, for debt to be classified as sustainable, at least one of the three indicators must be met, and there must be no severe controversy (structural or recurrent sustainability problem, high environmental or social impact issue, high risk to the business, or a high number of problems or incidents that have not been effectively and satisfactorily resolved). All of this is analyzed by a prestigious independent third party, acting as a sustainability auditor, analyzing the achievement of the indicators.
