LETTER FROM THE EXECUTIVE PRESIDENT
"By 2023, we have surpassed pre-pandemic employment figures. Today, our team of committed people allows us to enthusiastically look to the future and continue to build a long-term sustainable industrial project."
Once again, I have the opportunity to share with all our stakeholders the main milestones and results of Aciturri during the financial year 2023.
This report has been prepared under the Non-Financial Reporting Law requirements and following the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) international standard guidelines. The aim is to share with all interested parties the information on our activity's environmental, social and economic impact during 2023, a year in which we maintain our commitment to the United Nations Global Compact as signatory partners for the eleventh consecutive year.
In a global scenario of instability, in which military conflicts continue to intensify, economic uncertainty grows, and the difficulties associated with cost increases or the purchase of raw materials and components remain, our business project continues to enjoy the confidence of our shareholders and the financial support necessary to advance towards the goal of recovering our pre-pandemic sales figures and achieving the performance required to ensure the long-term sustainability of our business.
Overall, passenger traffic in 2023 continued to recover from the previous year to reach figures close to those of 2019. The domestic figures have even been surpassed, while the recovery will still need to be completed in the international arena. In this context, the industry has seen a significant increase in single-aisle orders and continues to work to return long-range models to pre-pandemic production rates.
During the financial year, we have segregated our aerostructures and engine business units to provide each with an autonomous, independent structure adapted to the specific needs of its own business. We have also made progress in consolidating aerostructures functions and integrating the Alestis and Aciturri teams into the Aciturri Aerostructures team.
On the other hand, Aciturri Aeroengines now has a dedicated management team supporting the development of the engine components division, engaged in a growth and internationalization process that has as its latest milestones the acquisition of the Rochefort plant in France and the Casablanca plant in Morocco (the latter in 2024). Both operations increase the company's technological and industrial capabilities as well as its know-how and experience, a necessary step to broaden the portfolio of products and services it offers to the international market.
Consistent with our commitment to the development of a sustainable aeronautical industry, we have consolidated our position as a supplier of structures in the vertical take-off and landing aircraft segment, with the delivery of the first complete fuselage for Lilium Jet and the incorporation of Eve Air Mobility, the subsidiary that develops EMBRAER's urban air mobility projects, as a reference supplier.
We have also joined the American Boom Supersonic project with a deal to develop Overture's complete empennage, the new supersonic aircraft powered by 100% sustainable air fuel (SAF).
I hope this document will help to convey to all Aciturri's stakeholders the reality of our business project in 2023, a year whose best news is undoubtedly that we have surpassed the pre-pandemic employment figures and we have a team of committed people that allows us to look to the future with enthusiasm to keep building a sustainable industrial project in the long term.
