Water consumption and discharges

Water consumption is limited to sanitation purposes, except at the Ayuelas, Vitoria, and Ircio plants, where it is also used in the manufacturing process. Additionally, at plants with composite material manufacturing technologies, water is used to cool autoclaves in cooling towers.

At Aciturri, industrial processes are designed to ensure responsible water consumption, under criteria of efficiency and minimum environmental impact.

38. The data reported for water consumption in the 2023 Sustainability Report differs from this figure because an estimate was made at the time of publication of that document. The actual water consumption data for some plants in the fourth quarter of the year was not available at that time. However, the current data also includes estimates because some bills have not yet been received.

39. As of now, there is no actual data on water consumption for all plants in 2024, so an estimate has been made based on the 2023 data.

All production plants obtain water from the municipal sanitation network.

Water consumption is limited to sanitation purposes, except at the Ayuelas, Vitoria, and Ircio plants, where it is also used in the manufacturing process. Additionally, at plants with composite material manufacturing technologies, water is used to cool autoclaves in cooling towers.

At the Vitoria plant, the authorized waste manager is responsible for removing liquid anodizing bath concentrate for disposal. This concentrate is never disposed of as waste. After an internal purification process, the rest of the water is discharged into the public water system or the sewage network in accordance with the granted Discharge Authorization.

When the discharge is sewage, it goes directly to the sewage network and from there to the corresponding municipal collector.

This year, the Puerto Real plant implemented a system for recovering rainwater for irrigation.

During 2024, the Vitoria plant received a €1,500 fine as a result of a deviation in discharge parameters. To prevent this situation from recurring, a new evaporation system is planned for implementation in 2025.
